From professional modeling and acting to freelance writing, it all began in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where Sonia Hayes was born, raised and educated. Hayes' commercial modeling and acting career has included national ads for such well-known brands as Longhorn Steakhouse, Seagram's Gin and Tide Laundry detergent to name a few. Her freelance writing credits include writing for her Alma mater, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, school newspaper, the Business Journal and the Spanish Journal.
Hayes spent several years working on adult manuscripts before creating her teen series. Hayes never intended to write books for teenagers. The idea for a story about teen girls came to Hayes when she was trying to spark her own daughter's interest in reading. Hayes believes that fiction can and should improve lives. She writes to empower young ladies to make positive life choices. And if her fan mail is any indication, Hayes is succeeding. Teens, parents and youth leaders have sent hundreds of messages of thanks to the author for addressing serious issues and giving girls positive options for dealing with them.
Hayes has previously utilized her talents to serve as a national Spokesperson for the Federal government, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission where she spent several years helping to protect Americans for dangerous consumer products.
Hayes travels throughout the country speaking at schools, conferences and youth organizations. When she isn't traveling, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three daughters, and welcomes every opportunity to play tennis. She is also the host of the Tennis Fitness 4 Life.com. Ms. Hayes is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is currently working on the television script of The ATL Girlz series.
